Efficient Fuel Consumption: Honda V-Twin engines with EFI boast excellent fuel efficiency due, in part, to an electronic control system (ECS, see discussion below) that continually monitors and adjusts the engine's air/fuel ratio according to variable operating conditions and engine load requirements, maintaining optimal combustion conditions.

Adaptability and Enhanced Reliability: In addition to optimizing air/fuel ratios, the Honda V-Twin EFI-equipped engines offer improved ignition timing over the complete range of operating speeds and compensate for other factors to continually maintain optimal performance.

Improved Starting: Honda iGX700/iGXV700 and iGX800/iGXV800 V-Twin engines boast easy starting performance in both hot and cold temperature conditions, such as when the equipment is started cold or temporarily stopped mid-job. The EFI system and high-pressure fuel pump allow for an ideal air/fuel mixture before it is emulsified and vaporized. Because the new Honda V-Twin iGX engines eliminate the need for manual manipulation of the choke and throttle, they also are ideal for rental applications.

Delivering complete drive-by-wire remote control capability for engine operation and benefiting both contractors and the environment, Honda iGX technology results in excellent fuel efficiency, low emissions, and low noise through engine speed that adapts to fluctuating power demands. The result is more consistent output and less stress on industrial equipment and tools.

Providing enhanced performance and quality, the engines are equipped with fuel injection technology and an integrated electronic self-tuning regulator (STR) governor that delivers drive-by-wire remote control capability to manage key aspects of engine operation.

Central to the iGX concept on the new V-Twin models is an integrated ECU with a self-tuning regulator (STR) governor system that allows the engine to communicate with the machine it is powering to achieve optimal performance by monitoring key parameters, controlling engine speed and diagnostics. The ECU enables drive-by-wire remote control operation of the engine, and speed of the models can be programmed and varied based on the load and speed requirements of equipment applications.

Hemispherical combustion chamber

V-Twin Series

Honda’s hemispherical combustion chamber was inspired by our proven racing technology. It offers the highest V-Twin compression ratio on the market.

The power is transmitted through forged-steel connecting rods and a forged-steel crankshaft, supported by a full-pressure lubrication system.

• 9.1:1 compression ratio generates tremendous power

Oil alert

V-Twin series

Honda’s Oil Alert system helps to prevent engine seizure due to a low oil condition.

The system consists of an oil level sensor or oil pressure sensor inside the crankcase. When the oil reaches a level that is too low for safe operation, the engine warns you or stops automatically. The engine will shut down and the LED light will flash the code for low oil.

The new Honda V-Twin models feature a control panel with an LED indicator that informs the user about potential problems with diagnostic trouble codes. This indicator is designed either to stop the engine or alert the operator if any corrective actions need to be taken. These alerts protect and help extend the life of the engine.

As a result of Honda's adoption of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) standard J1939 vehicle bus, the recommended practice used for communication and diagnostics among vehicle components, the new Honda V-Twin models offer a standardized method for communication across ECUs for seamless integration between engine and application.

The new Honda V-Twin models feature a control panel with an LED indicator that informs the user about potential problems with diagnostic trouble codes. This indicator is designed either to stop the engine or alert the operator if any corrective actions need to be taken. These alerts protect and help extend the life of the engine.

Communication for diagnosis of the engine utilizes Dr.H software. Linked via USB port to a tablet or PC for quick repairs.

The throttle body is equipped with an ambient temperature sensor and map sensor to ajust the fuel/air ratio for improved startability.

Hour meter is equipped on the control box. ECU logs all engine history, accessible via Dr.H

Automatic mechanical decompression system

All engines

Honda’s automatic mechanical decompression system is designed to give you quicker, easier starts.

This system, which is connected to the camshaft, reduces compression by opening the exhaust valve slightly when the engine is being started. This reduces the amount of force needed to start the engine and improves starting performance.

The system disengages automatically after the engine starts to prevent any power loss during normal operation.

The new Honda V-Twin models feature high power output in a compact design comparable to the compact base frame footprints of other high-output Honda engines, ranging from the GXV630 to the iGXV800. The design compatibility minimizes changing time, making it easy for the user to install the new V-Twin models when older engines reach the end of their service lives. The design also allows manufacturers maximum flexibility with current tooling and frames.
